Question: timeline for previous deployed soldier to recieve the $8,000 tax credit?

My husband and I are veterans. (me for a year now and he just got out a week ago, but is in the reserves for 2 years). He left for deployment last August and returned early in June. What is the time-line for us to receive the $8,000 tax credit. I had read awhile ago that he had a years from the month he returned. Recently a broker told me we have until April 2011 to sign-off on a home and till the end of June to close. Does anyone know the specific rule on this? Where I can find it? I have done research myself but have found conflicting info and am trying to get a final answer on this to resolve my question.
I shoud say- what is the timeline of the extension of the $8,000 tax credit for deployed soldiers

Answer: Here is the IRS page which discusses the tax credit for first time home buyers including military. It says you must purchase it by April 30 and close by June 30. I hope Obama gets credit for this one which is among many bills he signed and no one talks about.

Warehouse would employ 500

Construction on the 1.4 million square-foot facility would begin almost ‘immediately’ after city approval, official says. A huge warehouse with the promise of 500 jobs could be under construction “almost immediately” at the business park on former Bethlehem Steel land pending city approval, which could happen next week.

Question: Auto Loan with large Down Payment for Bad Credit?? Good interest rate??

I have heard from several people that if you have a large down payment (such as 40% to 50% of the purchase price), you will be able to get a good interest rate from nearly any dealer/lender. Is this true??

I was looking at getting a 2009 Acura TSX, my credit is bad (540, nothing new though), and I have $20,000 cash. No, I’m not going to buy a used one. I want brand new and total price will be about $35,000 including tax, title, license, accessories, and rims. So that would be a $15,000 loan with $20,000 down.

Would I still be subject to high interest rates, or is it true that lenders will give you the preferred rate for such a low LTV on the car??

Thanks!! I hope some auto finance people respond….

Obama Education Tax Credit 2009

Obama Education Tax Credit 2009

Question: Higher Education Tax Credit Question?

OK…so I am a 2009 graduate from a 4 year institution. I paid for my 2009 spring semester in November 2008. My school sent my 1098-t form in January of 2009 which included that tuition payments of $6559.00 for fall 2008 and $6559.00 for my spring 2009 semester. After filing last year for both semester (total 13118.00) the federal government said I was allowed $754.00 for the education credit…this year with the Obama Higher Education Tax Credit, I would have gotten $1000.00 automatically for just the spring 2009 semester of $6559.00 and additional income back which would have totaled more than $2000.00…But because I filed previously for one semester a year ago I am only allowed about $600.00…its a weird predicament. Is it possible to amend my previous year tax return, send in the $754.00 to the IRS for the education credit and then file my 2009 portion for the one semester of $6559.00 to get back $2000.00 instead of $600.00 ??

Answer: Doesn’t work that way. You paid it in 2008, it’s not eligible to be used in 2009 for tuition credits.
