DO we Qualify for the House Tax Credit 8k??? Hubby bought home before we married?
my husband bought a home before we were married, and we lived together in it, and got married about a year after buying the house. he lost the house to foreclosure, and now we are wanting to buy a home in my name only, but we are married, so do we qualify for the 8k tax credit? but my accountant says we do since we werent legally married when he bought the house. I am confused. also i am currently disabled, but an investor that we know is willing to take a chance to sell us oen of his homes.




Answer: Your accountant is an idiot. If either one of you owned you do not qualify. It is not exactly hard to figure out that you will not qualify unless the foreclosure happened longer then 3 years before you bought.

Question: How much will I get as a tax credit from being a first-time home buyer?

With regard to the extended first time home buyer tax credit, how much will my husband and I receive? We are filing our taxes as married filing single. Would we each be able to receive a $4000 credit or would only one of us receive the $4000 credit and the other would receive nothing? Any information would be helpful! Thanks!




Answer: There is no such thing as married filing single. If you mean married filing separately, you could each get $4000 assuming that together you qualify for the full $8000.
