Question: Who should I contact if I’ve been scamed, out of my last years tax refund?????
I went to Express Tax in Millwaukee, WI in January 2006 to file my 2005 tax. I was approved for a RAL loan; however I was not informed at that time that I was due to receive the balance of my federal refund by check. It was not until today when I went to H&R block that I found out that I was due the balance.
When I contact Express tax service that informed me that the check was sent to there office and signed by some one who apparently frauded me out of my refund. Who can I contact to bring legal action against this company I did not even know about it and if I had received the check it would have been deposited into my personal credit union account. I feel that I have been scammed. Do I contact the IRS? Should I contact the bank and let them know I never received a check? When I asked the people at this company they refused to give me the name of the bank.Answer: If you have been scammed then go to the local police and file a police report. Also put a freeze on your credit report.
Charlo woman sent to prison for bank embezzlement
MISSOULA – A Charlo woman will spend a little less than three years in federal prison for stealing more than $600,000 from a Polson bank. This spring, Kathy Sammons, 52, pleaded guilty to embezzlement from a credit union and money laundering.

Is there a deduction, allowance, credit, etc. that I can use on my income tax returns because I work on the river?
Answer: There’s no specific tax benefit for working on a river.

Question: 1 year work history, was in college prior, will I be qualified for an FHA home loan?
I have been working for about 1 year now. 8 months at my current job and 4 months at an older job. Both jobs are in the same line of work and my pay increased moving from the first job to the second. Prior to that, I attended a community college for 2 years. My field of study in college is not the same as my current field of work, but I’m not sure if that matters? I did not get my A.A. degree because things came up and I had to leave school to go to work. I only have 1 year of income tax returns, but have $8000 saved up for closing costs (my parents are willing to pay the downpayment as a gift). I make $2220 a month before taxes and have no debt whatsoever. Credit score is in the range of 550-600 as I applied for a credit card not to long ago. My question is: under these circumstances, what are my chances of being accepted for an FHA home loan? I am planning to buy a house in the $75,000 – $80,000 range. Thanks.
Answer: Job wise you are fine. You will just need to provide documentation that you were in college prior to your one year job history. The credit score is what will get you. Most investors who buy the FHA loans after closing will not accept a middle score below 620. Get that score up to show you know how to manage money & are a responsible person. Applying for one credit card would not do that much damage to your scores. You have some other issues. Clean it up.

Question: Are there any tax credits available for home purchases in 2010?
My wife and I will be closing on our first home purchase before the end of 2010. We are first time buyers and we’re using a USDA loan. Are there any tax credits we should be aware of? I wish we didn’t miss last years $8,000 credit!
Answer: Unless you or your spouse were in the military, foreign service, or intel community and served outside of the US in the past year it’s too late for the FTHB credit. The closing date deadline was Sep 30, 2010 as long as you were under contract by April 30, 2010.
