Question: From an environmental standpoint, is it better to convert to Natural Gas from #2 Oil or Install Solar Panels?

I can only afford to do one at this point in time at my house. Financially, it is a wash (The outlay for Solar Photovoltaic is much higher but is offset by savings on my electric bill and substantial New York State subsidies & tax credits. I assume switching from oil to gas for heating is a financial wash after the up-front conversion costs). Here are the relevant facts for my house: we burn, despite all our conservation efforts, about 1600 gallons of #2 heating oil a heating season. I can fit a 4.590kW Solar Array on my roof that is expected to net 5116(kWh) a year. I already bought a Prius so don’t suggest that as a better environmental solution. Any help with this decision would be appreciated.

Answer: Solar

Question: Which house should I buy?

My husband and I found the exact house we want, we love it! I don’t think we can get it though. We made an offer and found out the house is actually in the foreclosure process. Since it’s not the bank’s property yet we were still able to write our offer to the builder but now we found out that the title is showing tax leins– ones that were paid but never cleared on the title. We have been trying to sort the situation out for a month but are running out of time to get the tax credit. That’s right first time home buyers. There is another house we like as well. It is priced well and comes with a lot of perks (closing cost, discount on new appliances, 2 year warranty) it’s ready to go all we have to do is make our offer. Which house should we go with? Obviously we want the first house we have already become so attached to it and we don’t like the second one as well but we do like 2nd one. What should we do?

Answer: You stick with the first house and lose the 8k and gamble there is one for next year.
Or you settle for house number 2.
Me I would wait for the house of my dreams and not settle
