Tax Credit Per Mile

Tax Credit Per Mile

Question: Why are American cars bad?

We have fallen so far behind in the auto industry, not including trucks.

Our new Electric Car, the Chevy Volt only gets 40 miles per charge and cost 40 grand.

Now our international competitor, the Nissan leaf, gets 100 miles per charge and cost only 20 grand after tax credits.

Why are our American products in general so expensive, and why are they crappy?

Answer: Because the Unions have priced them out of the market. They make $70 (including benefits) per hour for a $20 per hour job.
They either have to be way over priced, or under quality.

Fuel Tax Credit

Fuel Tax Credit

Question: Why isn’t money spent on gas a tax deductible?

I am by no means an accountant of any kind, I am just a normal tax payer like everyone else. Gas prices are rising to record highs everyday and its completely evident that there is no chance of it slowing down anytime soon with republicans and democrats fighting over offshore drilling. More and more money is being spent on gas to the point where an hour of work can get you almost only 1 gallon. My proposal is that a percantage of money a person uses on gas should be returned as a tax deductible. One might ask why should gas affect deductibles, but read this. I got it from msn.com. “Credits are good because they are a dollar-for-dollar reduction in tax. And if you bought a new hybrid gas-electric auto or truck in 2007, you can get a conservation tax credit of between $250 and $1,000 and an additional fuel economy credit of between $400 and $2,400, depending on the make and the fuel economy.” If you do not think it is credible, message me and i will send you the link. Please answer

Answer: If you use your car for work purposes you should be able to claim a tax rebate for the cash spent on fuel.

Where can I find out more details?

Answer: A credit like that has been mentioned/proposed informally, but nothing exists on the federal level at this time.
