Tax Credit Hybrid Vehicle Purchase
Question: Does the 2011 Ford Fiesta qualify as an alternative fuel vehicle when filing for income tax returns?
I have a 2011 Ford Fiesta SE purchased last August 2010. If it qualifies, which specific type is it? H&R Block has 5 categories:
-Qualified Hybrid Car
-Advanced Lean Burn Technology Vehicle
-Qualified Alternative Fuel Vehicle
-Qualified Fuel Cell Vehicle
-Plug-in Conversionand how do i figure out the Maximum Credit Allowed and the Phase Out Percentage?
I tried to search the answer on the web but can’t find an exact match. I also tried to call the dealership but i can’t get hold of anybody right now
Answer: Hi, … Sorry , but no. The Fiesta does not qualify for any of the above tax credit criteria.
But look on the bright side. You have an excellent vehicle that uses regular unleaded fuel, which is not an “alternative fuel”… But it IS readily available. And you didnt pay a premium for Hybrid, Fuel Cell. electric plug in and/or Advanced lean burn Technology.I hope this helps

2008 Tax Energy Credits

Question: What would you do in Pickens’ shoes?
T. Boone Pickens is in a bit of a pickle. He’s a staunch Republican and makes a lot of campaign contributions to conservative politicians. He even gave the maximum contribution to James Inhofe!
Yet congressional Republicans are the ones blocking the renewable energy tax credits which projects like Pickens’ wind plan need to succeed.
Joseph Romm suggests that Pickens should give campaign donations to the Democrats who support renewable energy projects.

If you were in Pickens’ shoes (and remember, that means you’re a staunch Republican), what would you do?
Answer: He’s rich enough he can buy both Democrats and Republicans. It’s not like the Republicans will stop taking his money and stop doing favors for him if he also buys Democrats.
