The need for the use of cleaner, renewable energy sources has never been more prevelant. From major industry to small businesses and even home owners, we are all encouraged to seek alternative, cleaner energy sources. Currently, the use of more traditional methods for generating power such as the burning of fossil fuels, generate harmful greenhouse gas emissions – very bad for the earths atmosphere and our planet!

Tidal, Solar and Wind energy are generally referred to as Green energy sources. This is because they are natural, clean energy sources which do not produce harmful toxins or emissions and are more friendly to the earth and it’s atmosphere. Further to this, they are a long term, sustainable source of energy and they are incredibly cost effective.

Thankfully, many major companies and organizations, particularly in the manufacturing sector, are gradually recognizing the need for change and are utilizing the benefits of Renewable, Green Energy. This is also filtering down to smaller industries and organizations.

However, with millions of home owners around the globe, what difference could we make. Looking more specifically at Wind and Solar energy for your home, many people have asked the question “does it really work – is it a realistic option?”. In my opinion, the answer to this question is a definite yes.

Home made wind turbines and solar panels are by far the easiest and cheapest ways for you harness the power of nature and generate your own energy for your home. It is a natural, free and clean resource and more and more home owners are realizing the benefits of turning to solar and wind energy.

There are an increasing number of ‘How To’ manuals and guides available and provided they are followed correctly, you can build and install your very own Wind Turbine and Solar Panels easily and cheaply providing you with a long term renewable energy supply to your home.

They really are cost effective and easy to build and you can make a genuine difference not only to the environment you live in but also to your utility bills!

Question: What happens to AGW theory when CO2 and Temperature measurements no longer correlate?

CO2 is the crux of the AGW theory, is it not? That is the green house gas that man is producing exponentually. What happens if the correlation between CO2 and temperature goes awry? Carbon credits? Green house gas taxes? etc…

Looks like some of those AGW computer models may need some updates. Maybe tweak the AGW theory a little, it’s not looking like it’s going to stand the test of time.

Answer: Oh and they will update the models to fit their theories. That nasa.giss (whatever it is) site never seems to match any other sites that list temperature and CO2 graphs. That tamino files site is ran by some individual. How do we know that individual has accurate data? Does this individual have equipment set up all over the world to monitor the climate? I don’t see any credentials listed on that person’s site? Basically, they will adjust their theories and data to fit the argument. The AGW argument is losing steam.

Oh yeah, using the temperature trend of 1941-1990 as the ideal global temperature is completely flawed itself, considering it was much cooler then because the rebound from the “LIA”. The Little Ice Age ended when the cooling trend ended. It slowly started to warm up again, hence the 1.1 degree F difference between 1880 and today (128 years). But the climate of today is still much cooler (by about 2 degrees C) than normal climate that has existed for millions (probably billions) of years (between ice ages). We still have those 2 degrees to go before I would start worrying. Mankind made huge advancements during the Middle Ages when it was much warmer than the current climate. Maybe this will happen again, as long as everyone isn’t scared into hysteria over the planet returning to its normal temperature.

Oh yeah, anyone who has taken a statistics course knows how to manipulate a chart.

Answer: Yes, it makes sense. If these companies get bailed out, yes, they will have more money. But the problem will still persist – people simply aren’t buying cars. When the bail-out money is gone, they will be back in the same spot. There has to be something to get the business itself going again. And that isn’t throwing money at it every time there’s this large of a problem.

What do you need to know to get started?

Let’s start with the vehicle you will use. There are some basic considerations you need to remember but mostly vehicle weight and battery capacity are your main concerns.

Basically the lighter the vehicle the farther it will be able to travel between charges. That means installing electric vehicle motors in a small car or truck is your best choice. This must be balanced with total battery capacity too, since the more batteries, the longer your vehicle range will be.

We have chosen small trucks for most of our latest conversions as they are light, strong and have lots of room for batteries making it a good choice for installing electric vehicle motors.

Which motor should you choose?

Most of the large car companies are installing large AC motors in their electric vehicles. AC is light for its power output and they have a powerful charging device that works off of your braking system when the AC motor is slowed down that energy is actually transferred to the batteries.

The two drawbacks to those motors are that they are more difficult to install compared to DC and more expensive.

For that reason we have chosen DC electric vehicle motors for our recent conversions. They are easier to install and cheaper too.

The plans we found also showed us where to find them for free- and deep cycle batteries from the same source too. That really saved us a lot of money.

Since electric vehicle motors will last a very long time, probably through 2 vehicles obtaining used DC motors is a good choice for the conversion. Good recycled motors are all around if you know where to look.

Motors in the 9 to 13 inch range work best and has lots of power.

Choosing the right vehicle and obtaining free parts will definitely keep the cost of the project down too.

The first time you drive by a gas station after you do your conversion you won’t be able to stop smiling.
