Electric Golf Tax Credit

Question: Did Congress really give away our tax dollars for golf carts?

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704107204574473724099542430.html

The federal credit provides from $4,200 to $5,500 for the purchase of an electric vehicle, and when it is combined with similar incentive plans in many states the tax credits can pay for nearly the entire cost of a golf cart.

Answer: A golf cart dealer in Texas hs a real deal for those in his community.
You buy the golf cart. You get the the federal credit. You lease the golf cart back to his dealership. He leases the cart out for more of his own personal profit. After two years he lets you sell it back and you walk away with a two thousand dollar profit at the tax payers expense.
He advertised the “deal” on the radio so everyone who wants to participate can get in on it.
That serves as a great device to stick a spike in the eye of Congress. Everyone can see through the scam. The scam is being made public up front.
I love it! It is simple enough even a Liberal Socialist can understand it.

Question: Which non profit org. would need my electric cart most?

i bought 2 of these for tax credit:

http://www.freeelectriccar.com/?gclid=CIX07MGX5J4CFSWlagod7C74Iw

so i basicly got them free,

i got no need for them so i want to donate them to a non-profit
what type of organization would need such a vehicle most?

Answer: I’d look into a “wounded warriors” or similar org that assists our returning servicemen. I had some durable medical equipment that I was able to donate to a local VA office and they were very pleased to be able to provide it to veterans.

Question: Does $13,000 seem resonable for an electric heat pump (complete system) installation in Washington State?

We have a heat pump system in our house, but the heat pump is now leaking and so it is time to replace. We got an “off the cuff” estimate of $8,000 and thought THAT was outrageous. Then we had a reputable company come in and give us an estimate for a system that qualifies for the new tax credit, and we got an estimate of $13,000 AFTER a 10% discount from the company and the $1,500 credit? We live in Western Washington, I am just curious if anyone else has had one installed and how much it cost. The salesman told me that roughly 1/2 of the fee is for the installation. Bare in mind… we have a complete heat pump system already installed.

Thanks!

Answer: I live in WW also and work for a commercial/industrial hvac contractor here in Tacoma. If you already have one and it is time to replace.

The newer equipment has a higher Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. By law the manufacturers have to make their new equipment efficient and by doing this, we as installers have to install new copper tubing to so it will work correctly…usually older R22 systems will have smaller copper line sets.

Also there is a new refrigerant called R410A which has a different lubricating oil than the older R22 systems. This can pose a problem if the 2 oils come in contact with each other in larger quantities. This oil mixes freely with all parts inside of the equipment.

My cost of a Trane system will be approx. $3200-$4000. Double this and that is a bare minimum bid including labor. The bid may be more or less depending on how much ductwork has to be modified, electrical work to be done, if there is a new thermostat or condensate pump in the bid. Plus the labor to install, start and warranty this equipment.

Email me and I will give you a couple of good companies to go with.
