Question: First time home buyer credit?

My husband I bought our house back in July and had our taxes ammended and sent that in I believe in August or early September. They told us the tax credit could take up to 18 weeks to get back to us. Is there a way to track the refund and when it may come in? I’ve tried looking around but haven’t found very much. I would just like to know when we may be getting our money!

I don’t really get what you’re talking about Cheryl? We filed our 2008 taxes back in March. Then we bought a house in July and ammended our taxes to get the $8,000 tax credit. They told us it would take around 18 weeks to get to us. So yes.. We’re supposed to get a refund for it.

Answer: You cannot track it on the IRS website “where is my refund” that is only for regular taxes. You have to call the IRS to see if it has been processed or not yet….1-800-829-1040 and keep pressing 0 until you get the live operator and let them know you want to check on the status of your amended tax return for tax year 2008.
