Question: Can the stimulus package help save my step dads small business?

My step-dad owes $30,000 in taxes for his auto mechanic shop. His credit isn’t horrible but it also isn’t that great either. Does anyone know what he can do? Is there anyway he can receive some of the money from the stimulus package?

Answer: First off your step dad needs to pay his tax bills. He should never have allowed this to happen and should have managed his business better. As for the stimulus well that it is not for small businesses and he will not qualify for any government grants or loans as long as he owes back taxes. Sorry to say but if he cannot manage his business better than this then he maybe up the creek without a paddle.

Question: 2009 stimulus tax rebate question ($8000)?

hey,

i am a freshman college student and am looking getting a house. I will be a first time home buyer…as the only other thing i have ever owned is my car.

The question is how the $8000 credit is given. Being a college student, I mow lawns part time. This brings in about $4000 dollars a year…not much income at all

i also have a $8000 annuity, which combined with the $4000 will be enough to cover all expenses for the house

Problem is that I am only charged about $200 in federal taxes a year…does this mean it would be a horrible plan to take the tax credit…as i will only get $200 of it???

i want to take advantage of this…but i have a feeling i am too low to benefit…

Answer: You only get up to 10% of the price of the house so your house would need to cost more than 80K but the credit is refundable so you would get a check next tax season.

I don’t think you can get a loan that big on your income and you need to keep the home 36 months.
