Tax Credit Overpayment Dispute
Question: I just got Tax credit overpayment demand for 1665£ but I always reporter all changes in time! Please Help!!?
I never got any letter about this outstanding amount and now I got on my doorstep Dept Pursuit Officer from HM Revenue&Customs with the letter. He advised me to dispute this is if I disagree, which I will do as I always reported all changes in time. What is my chance to overturn this claim? How best to deal further is my claim turned down? Please help !!!
Answer: Hiya I currently work on tax credits and overpayments happen for so many different reasons. Sometimes it could be due to informing us of a late change or increase in income or something else which needs further investigation. What your better doing is phoning the helpline to find out why first of all the overpayment happened then see what your options are from there. The overpayment might be able to be cleared if some information has not been updated correctly. If the overpayment is something you do not agree with your better to dispute the overpayment. I hope this helps and you get the situation sorted out. My experience of tax credits overpayments that it is never black or white!! Good luck!!

8000 Tax Credit Towards Down Payment
Question: 8000 tax credit for 1st time home buyers?
We are in the process of buying our firest home and just found out that we need an additional 5,000 to put towards closing cost. We dont have that so i did a little reaserch and saw that you can use your 8000 tax credit towards your down payment. But how do I go about doing this and has anyone done it?
Answer: In theory you can, if you are FHA and the bank approves of a bridge loan for it. So far I have not heard of anyone actually doing this though, the banks are not approving the additional loan. Basically you borrow the 8k and pay them back after you receive the credit.

Tax Credit As Down Payment Florida

Question: Can I afford to buy this house?
Me and My husband are looking to buy a home in Orlando, Florida for $299,900. I work as a nurse & he is a State Highway Patrolman. Our total Yearly income is $90,587 after federal tax (Florida has no state income tax, fyi) With a 30 yr fix mortgage rate of 4.97% and a $59980 down payment could we afford the monthly payment? We have no credit cards, and minimal debt. Both cars are already paid off and our bills are about $1,300 a month total. Thanks in advance for the help!
Answer: It looks like this is way within your ability to buy. Rental alone of a 2 bedroom can possibly cost almost the monthly of your mortgage. Just be sure this is the house you like because it is a buyers market and you can buy a lot of foreclosure out there right now.
The concern is if one of you lose your job. Since this amount is almost same as a rental and you must live somewhere then it is okay. Also, unemployment will probably be high enough to cover costs if jobs are lost. You must try to save 6 months worth of expenses for a safety net.
Whatever you do, now is the time to buy a good home.Good Luck!

Tax Credit Overpayments Written Off
Question: help!!!!! with benefit fraud accusation!!!!!???
a year ago i had to have a interview under caution regarding reciveing to much council and housing benefit. this happenend because of one wftc (working families tax credit) document i forgot to send off (yes i really did i under no circumstance agree with benefit fraud!!)
so i paid off the council tax overpayment , and stilll paying the housing overpayment off which should be finished the end of this year.
all this was last may (2007)
today i get a letter from solicitors for a court date saying i had not not turned up for an administrative penalty interview.
i had no letter about it, on the solicitors letter it has my wrong house number on (from my privous address) so i’m guessing it got sent there.
i have written a letter to the courts and solicitors about this and going to cab next week, but has this happen to anone?
i’m worried sick that i’ll get a criminal record.Answer: I was taken to court for benefit fraud in 2002. They said I was working illegally whilst claiming benefits. I was on a training scheme that they had set up themselves and made a pig’s ear of it. It was a scheme where you got your benefits plus £10.
It went to court and their solicitor was the dopiest prat I’d ever met. They had no correct information, files were missing, nobody knew anything. It was quite comical really.
I had an Asian barrister who tore them to strips and showed them up to be spiteful, incompetent, and clueless. It was thrown out and I awarded costs.
So, please don’t lose any sleep over this. You made a genuine mistake by the sound of it.
The WFTC is notorious difficult to understand unless you are Gordon Brown who introduced it, or an illegal immigrant ripping it off due to complexities.
Get a solicitor or the CAB to help you. Don’t be frightened of going to court because they are more understanding than the DWP and they will have come across this situation before now.
The fact you’ve paid back nearly all this over-payment will stand you well. Just keep a record of all future phone calls and letters from them.
Good luck.
