Targeted Job Tax Credit

Question: Why do Republicans like to borrow and spend?
Republicans like to say “i want to cut your taxes”
Then when your back is turned they take out the federal credit card and borrow over a trillion dollars.
For some reason they never offer a plan to pay any of the money back.
Ane we accept this style of government year after year.
Because we don’t feel the imediate pain of borrowed money. It allows us to pretend that it didn’t happen. Until the value of the dollar tanks. Until we get to the point where we have to beg China to buy our bonds.
In 40 years China will be the #1 country in the world.
They owe their success to our willingness to send all our manufacturing jobs to China. In return we get to pay lower prices at Walmart and Target.
So when you see a Congressman or Senator pat him on the back for a job well done.
Speak truth to power.

Answer: The whole issue is the spending part of that equation. Unfortunately both parties love to spend spend spend. One party like to use excessive taxes and the other likes to borrow. What we need is someone to cut spending and hopefully McCain is the guy to do that..
EXTEND & PRETEND: Stage I Comes to an End
Both came to an end at the same time: the administration’s policy to Extend & Pretend has run out of time as has the patience of the US electorate with the government’s Keynesian economic policy responses.

Question: Why do you think a former Bush economic advisor is arguing for a carbon tax?
At yesterday’s Deals & Deal Makers Conference in New York, Glenn Hubbard, the Columbia Business School Dean and former Bush administration economic adviser, argued in favor of a carbon tax.
http://blogs.wsj.com/energy/2007/06/28/hubbard-argues-for-a-carbon-tax/
Hubbard supports either a carbon tax or a carbon cap and trade system in which the carbon credits are auctioned off. He does not support a cap and trade system in which the credits are given away, because then the government isn’t getting any funds from the process.
Hubbard basically feels that the government can redistribute funds from a carbon tax to reduce other taxes and have no net tax increase.
This is no liberal. This is a former Bush economic advisor who was instrumental in Bush’s 2003 tax cuts

What do you think about this conservative economist pushing for a carbon tax?
Answer: Think when I heard him on NPR he mentioned a carbon tax is a good idea if it is offset by a tax reduction in some other area. A “no net gain” in taxes kind of thing. The economics of it makes sense – find a way to use less fuel (electricity included if made from fossil fuel), and pay less taxes – a good incentive. He also mentioned that the taxes should be used for developing alternative fuels and such.
This would help spur innovation to reduce global warming (think that is the point of the carbon tax), but unfortunately more needs to happen.

Question: How messy is your room/home office/home workspace right now and why?
No matter how much I toss I can’t seem to make any headway, I am this close to just throwing it all out! It is either keep it all or toss it all. You never know what to save anymore – pefect example – we can get an income tax credit on our phone bills for the past 3 years I think…who keeps phone bills that long?!?!? This credit is for the “normal” residential customers and businesses. The normal customers usually toss bills after they’ve been paid, no? *ARRGH*
Answer: Tel me about it. I can’t rid of any of my paper either and I feel like the pile never goes down and i feel overloaded.
