Question: Can I claim tax credit for windows I purchased in 2008? Is it too late?

I purchased windows in 2008 but didn’t have the windows install until 2009. Can I still claim the tax credit when I file my 2009 income tax?

Thank you.

Answer: Since they were purchased in 2008, they cannot be claimed on your 2009 return. Unfortunately, there was not credit in 2008 for residential energy efficient improvements such as windows and doors. So there is nothing you can do.
