Question: why does child tax credit end when your child is 18 and yet?
a parent is financially responsible until they are 19???
Answer: You’re wrong! It ends when they’re 17.
That’s the Rules.
In most US states, parents are responsible only until 18, not 19.
All games have rules, but they don’t necessarily make sense, but they are the rules of engagement.
You can still claim your child as a dependent through age 18, and even longer if they’re a fulltime student, but you won’t get the child tax credit, after age 17.
