First Time Home Buyer Credit Duplex

Question: How do you get the first time buyer credit for buying a home?
Also, I rent right now and I want to keep renting my house and buy a duplex. Can I use the credit for part of my down payment. Will it matter that it’s an investment property and not for me to live in?
Yea, that would be ok but my house now is a lot nicer and I still have a lease. I was thinking that would be the case. I will probably still do it but with my own money.
Answer: It takes a few months to get the money back from buying your first home.
