Question: American Opportunity Tax Credit Act information?

I am volunteering at an animal shelter and I was interested in the American Opportunity Tax Credit Act. Apparently for it to count it needs to be 501(c). Would an animal shelter qualify for that?

Answer: What credit are you really talking about? The one you refer to is for college expenses.

Some states have or have proposed a tax credit for volunteering. If you’re referring to something like that….. Many animal shelters are 501(c)3 organizations. Ask, them.
