Question: 2008 Delay in Taxes-Mortgage Interest?

Hi all. I filed and was accepted by the IRS on 1/30/08. The tax schedule and SBBT said 2/8 as my funding date…until today. Now I got the delayed message and the IRS.GOV site says I should have by 2/19. I keep reading that different types of credit (energy, mortgage interest, etc) weren’t able to be filed until 2/11.

I have mortgage interest and energy credit. Turbo Tax let me efile MINUS the $298 i’ll get back for energy, and didn’t mention anything about the mortgage interest , and my return was filed. Turbo tax is offering a free 1040X when the Energy Credits are ready to be filed…but why did it accept my return (the IRS accepted it, too) if the mortgage interest won’t be ready until 2/11? I am just now worried that my return is messed up and they shouldnt’ have allowed me to efile at all? A huge chunk is my mortgage interest and hybrid car interest.

thanks to anyone who can help!
ETA: It was the purchase of my car, not interest. Thanks for the catch.

Answer: Many people with mortgage interest have filed and are now spending their refund.

Tax credits and incentives may take edge off post-holiday blues

During the past few weeks we have been celebrating Christmas, the most joyous holiday of the year. People are in a giving mood. We go out of our way to be charitable. We buy gifts and donate to worthy causes. We welcome in a new year, kick 2009 to the curb and hope for the best.
