Tax Credit Ideas

“Why try to reinvent the wheel? Instead just follow what someone else does and use it to your benefit.”
My team won’t let me fly on airplanes anymore. Not because they think I’m going to die or won’t come back, but because every time I fly I come home with at least one new product idea. When I sit on a plane I tend to read magazines that are completely unrelated to my business or industry. I’ll read Discovery Magazine or Psychology Today or anything that is intriguing and thought-provoking and new ideas start flowing almost immediately.
One of my favorite ways to find new ideas is to read about methods and concepts that work in other companies and industries. Why try to reinvent the wheel? Instead just follow what someone else does and use it to your benefit. For example, one of the core architectural components of my software model came from a discussion I had with a project manager at another company. He showed me how they were using the “publish and subscribe” model to share employee data across all their departments. I later used that model to perform software and content updates with our customers.
The best part about ideas is that it doesn’t matter where they come from. Give credit where credit is due and don’t infringe on intellectual property rights, but why not feel empowered to maximize good ideas when found?
Here are a few good ideas for using Microsoft Outlook:
- To help you keep track of emails to follow up on, copy yourself as a BCC recipient and create a rule in Outlook to move those emails into a “Follow Up” folder
- Try Xobni.com to make using Outlook 100 times more powerful
- Create personal folders outside your default personal folder to store emails and reduce your inbox size – this will make Outlook run faster if your default personal folder is over 100 megabytes.
- If you use a PDA (I use the Storm) then you can use Outlook tasks and synch them with your PDA, then take notes directly into your PDA instead of on paper.
Happy Idea Hunting! I’d love to hear about your great ideas.

Tax Credit As Down Payment

Question: When will we be able to use the $8,000 tax credit for a down payment?
Does anyone really know how this is going to work? Will I be able to get an FHA loan with zero down and use the $8,000 as the down payment? Or will I have to still put some up front money down? If so, what is that money?
OMG!! People on here don’t know nothing! HUD PASSED IT FRIDAY that we can use the downpayment. Don’t you guys stay up on the news? if you are not a loan officer please don’t give your advice.
Answer: I was just discussing HUD’s letter allowing all this with a lender friend of mine.
As it stands now, HUD has given lenders permission to develop a “bridge loan” so buyers may use the tax credit for closing costs. You still must come up with the 3.5% down payment yourself.
As I read it, the stipulations placed upon the lenders to do this bridge loan make it not worth doing. Some will do it and end up getting shafted – the buyers won’t pay it back, because they will have spent it by the time they need to start making payments on it.
As written now, it’s NOT a 30, 60 or 90 day loan. A ballon (calling the full amount due) cannot be earlier than TEN YEARS – it will have gone for down payment on a new hybrid GM car by then!
They’re doing it all over again….. the government is setting up a system for buyers to buy stuff on credit that they cannot afford. I’m not sure if he (Obama) did the timing just right though. They placed a “No payments for 36 months” clause in there for people who stretch themselves to their debt-to-income ratio limit, (these are the people who will be the biggest group of foreclosures) so it might start hitting the fan just before the 2012 election. It might not have developed enough though by October to impact the election – at that time, the 2009 stimulus (and the ensuing 2010 and 2011 ones) will have gotten alot of people into home ownership and new car ownership.
Unfortunately, the government is doing to the poor what it always does. They are the least able to over-extend themselves on credit, so the government is enticing them to. They’re the ones who also buy the most lottery tickets – another government scam on the poor.
Personal Finance Daily: Maintenance costs can kill a home-purchase deal
With home prices and interest rates lower than they’ve been in years, plus an $8,000 tax credit still available, it’s no surprise first-time home buyers are eager to dip their feet into the housing market. But just because you have some money saved up for the down payment and monthly mortgage costs doesn’t mean you’re financially ready to own a home. A lot of online mortgage calculators don’t …

Tax Credit Error

Question: Tax lien error?
I recently had my credit run while applying for a personal loan and a resolved tax lien was reported under the public record portion of my credit
report. This is obviously an error and I have been on the phone with the IRS all day and they just keep giving me different numbers to call, never a solution.
Can anyone provide me with any information to have this negative information removed from my credit report. Thanks in advance!
Answer: Define resolved! If IRS is still showing a balance due, the case has not been resolved.

New Car Tax Credit California

Question: do u guys think i can afford this house payment? give me an advice!!?
i make around 3000 a month…my house payment will be $1094.00 with tax and ins total a month with a 30 yr fixed 6.25 rate.i pay 795 for my aparment right now..county is giving me 35k to put as down paymet.i have no debt at all ..no car paymet or credit cards…..what other expenses should i consider….give number figures please….i think i can do it….house it will be about 25 minutes from work small car for work ,,,,this is california estate…..plus we got about 13k in savings,,,,no closing cost is they accepted.
Answer: Maybe, If you live like a frugal monk, keep in mind there will always be unexpected expenses on the house as well as the utilities (the seller and utilities can give you those numbers.)
since you say “we” I presume a spouse is involved. Does your $3000.00 include her income? Would she be able to pick up a local job that wouldn’t require her to have a 2nd vehicle. If you want a rough estimate of what your vehicle costs will be double what you spend on gas.
Subtract all of those numbers from your net income and this will leave your budget for food clothing other expenses and
emergencies. I paid off a 12% – 10 year mortgage in 8 years
it wasn’t easy or fun. PS I did all the repair work on my vehicles and the property.
