Question: Has anyone received their first-time home buyer tax credit back?

I bought my first home in May, and filed for the first time home buyer tax credit immediately there after. I filed an amended return for 2008, and have still not seen the $8,000 credit. The form said 8-12 weeks, and now it has been 18 weeks. How long is this taking?

Answer: Nope, we are still waiting. We filed it in July.

However, my husband tried to turn me in, under the cash for chunkers program.

AARP volunteers prep for tax season

For many the only financial records of concern for now are those Christmas bills coming due. But some have already received tax information in the mail so AARP is gearing up to help straighten out all those 1040 forms.
