Figuring Credit for Elderly or Disabled

The credit for the elderly or the disabled is computed on Schedule R, Credit for the Elderly or the Disabled using an initial amount based on:

  • your age (and if married filing jointly, your spouse's age).
  • your tax filing status
  • whether one or both of you is retired on permanently and total disability.
