Earned Income Credit Guidelines
If you are a low income taxpayer, you may qualify for the earned income tax credit. Below are the earned income credit guidelines to help you figure out if you qualify to claim the earned income credit or EIC. In terms of earned income credit requirements, there are two types of earned income credits:
-
Earned income credit with a qualifying child or qualifying children
-
Earned income credit without a qualifying child.
There are three sets of tests that taxpayers must pass 2 sets of in order to claim the earned income credits. These tests are:
-
-
-
Test 1, all taxpayers seeking to claim the earned income credit must pass all of. Then each taxpayer must either pass all of test 2 or all of test 3 depending on whether there is at least one qualifying child or not.
Who can claim the earned income credit guidelines
There are eight tests or criteria any taxpayers have to satisfy in order to claim the earned income tax credit, see Who Qualifies for Earned Income Credit? If a taxpayer passes all of these eight tests for earned income credit, then there are additional tests he or she has to satisfy depending on whether he or she has a qualifying child or children or not.
If the taxpayer passes all the eight earned income credit eligibility tests, then either the qualifying child or children have to pass additional tests for earned income credit with qualifying child or children or the taxpayer must pass additional tests for earned income credit without qualifying child.
